Your First Sign-In
This article explains how to activate Stimaro on your computer, what happens during sign-in, and what to do if you need to refresh or deactivate your account.
What Sign-In Means in Stimaro
Stimaro uses device-based activation instead of a traditional username and password inside the desktop app.
That means you do not sign in by typing a password directly into Stimaro. Instead, Stimaro opens a secure sign-in page in your system browser. Once sign-in is complete, your desktop app is activated on that device.
After activation, Stimaro recognizes your computer, validates your license, and enables the features included with your account.
Before You Start
Before signing in, make sure:
- You are using your work email address
- Your company has been onboarded to Stimaro
- You have an active trial, subscription, or customer account
- Your computer is connected to the internet for the first activation
If your company has not been onboarded yet, the sign-in flow may not be available until Stimaro begins customer onboarding for your account.
How First Sign-In Works
When you first open Stimaro before activation, the app opens to the activation screen instead of the main app.
You will see:
- The Stimaro wordmark
- A heading that says "Activate Stimaro"
- A prompt to sign in
- A button to sign in with your work email
To activate Stimaro:
- Open the Stimaro desktop app.
- Click
Sign in with your work email. - Your system browser will open to a secure sign-in page.
- Complete sign-in in the browser.
- After successful sign-in, the browser page will show
Sign-in completeand may close automatically. - Return to the Stimaro desktop app.
- Stimaro will receive the activation confirmation and unlock the app.
Once activation is complete, you will have access to the full app experience for your account.
Why Sign-In Happens in the Browser
Stimaro uses a secure browser-based authentication flow. This keeps authentication separate from the desktop app and allows sign-in to be handled through a trusted identity provider.
The desktop app does not store or manage your password. Authentication happens in the browser, and the app only receives the activation result needed to confirm your device and account access.
Device Activation
Each computer using Stimaro is activated separately.
On first launch, Stimaro creates a unique device identifier for that machine. After you sign in successfully, that device is linked to your Stimaro account and license.
If you install Stimaro on another computer, that second computer will need to be activated separately.
Activation Status
Stimaro can be in one of three activation states.
Unactivated: The app is locked to the activation screen. You need to sign in before using the full app.
Activated: Your device is activated, your license is valid, and your account features are available.
Deactivated: You have signed out or deactivated the device. Stimaro returns to the activation screen until you sign in again.
Managing Your Account in Settings
After activation, you can view your sign-in and license information from:
Settings → Account
This section may show:
- Activation status
- Company or account information
- License expiration date
- AI feature status
- A
Refresh nowbutton - A
Sign out / Deactivatebutton
Use Refresh now if you need Stimaro to re-check your license or account status.
Use Sign out / Deactivate if you need to remove activation from that device.
License Validation
Stimaro checks your license when you activate the app. After that, the app revalidates your license periodically when your computer is online.
In normal use, this happens automatically. You should not need to manage it manually.
If you recently changed your subscription, trial status, or company access, use Refresh now in Settings → Account to re-check your license.
Offline Use
Stimaro is designed to continue supporting core estimating workflows even when you are offline.
After a successful license validation, Stimaro can continue working offline for a grace period of up to 14 days.
During offline use:
- Core estimating features remain available
- Your local work can continue
- License validation will resume when you are back online
- Some account-connected or AI-powered features may be limited until your license is refreshed
AI Features and Sign-In
Some Stimaro features require an active sign-in and valid license. This includes AI-assisted workflows such as quote extraction, PDF processing, or template cloning.
If your account is not activated, your license cannot be validated, or your offline grace period has expired, AI features may be disabled until sign-in is restored.
Core estimating workflows are designed to remain available offline, but AI features depend on active account access.
